Hey, team —
When we initially published the genetic traits for each Hero, there was some vagueness as to how exactly Exhaust works. In turn, I wanted to take a moment to clear up what it does and why it does it.
First off, a full definition for you:
Exhaust:
When Exhausted, the effected Hero can take limited actions:
- Basic Attack (at a 50% damage reduction)
- Reposition
- Consume a Potion
- Pass Turn
In addition, the effected Hero is Slowed by 50%.
Exhaust cannot be Cleansed, unless specifically noted.
Interrupts.
Base Duration of 1.
Now that you have that in your back pocket, you can see that Exhaust is just a step below Stun and a bump above Daze in terms of relative potency. That being said, Exhaust occurs both as an attack and also as a self-inflicted debuff, which is pretty sweet.
The self-exhaust is a delicate art and requires some serious forethought. In short, a Hero will “Become Exhausted” after casting an insanely powerful spell or ability that quite literally pushes them over the edge to Exhaustion.
This is not only a nice flavor to experience in battle, but also a balancing mechanic that allows us to provide some limitations on spamming powerful actions, because in this universe, no power is gained for free. That being said, you can expect that ability to feel about 50% more powerful than a normal skill, and sometimes even more ;)
